The future is here! Come explore the fourth industrial revolution and find out more about robots, drones and machine learning. From 10-11am we'll be hosting a panel discussion with experts from the industry around how robotics, IoT and data is impacting us – we'll look at new business opportunities, the need for new skills, and changing educational requirements for children and adults. Then, from 11-12pm our in-house expert Mohsen Pashna and guests from the panel will host an expo. You’ll be able to get hands on with smart home IoT configurations, the TensorFlow engined wayfinder two-wheeled robo, brain controlled mobile robot, remote controlled robotic arm, and a machine-learning based robotic arm.

Speakers

Farhad Mehdipour has a PhD in Computer Systems Architecture. He has participated in many joint projects with the industry in Japan and has initiated several interdisciplinary R&D projects - particularly on IoT-enabled smart cities and systems as well as data analytics.
Grant Carter heads up robotics in NZ for global power and automation company ABB. He works to deliver creative solutions by combining local skilled engineering expertise with world leading tech. Bringing together suppliers, integrators and end users, Grant fosters innovation and collaboration.
Mohsen Pashna has a PhD in swarm robotics and the formation of algorithms of mobile sensor networks. He has been part of many projects in the field and has invented strategies for mobile robot configurations used in autonomous tracking of hard-to-predict objects like algae and rain forest fires.
Toby is an entrepreneur and roboticist. In 2006 he founded a NZ start-up focused on bringing autonomy to lift trucks, winning the 2008 NZ Young Engineer engineering excellence award. He has worked globally on smart home tech and has a PhD in applying Augmented Reality to robots and humans.
