This event is run by Technohackers and run out of Whangarei Boys High for Northland Techweek.

It is a full day event where everyone gets to build and program a mobile robot from scratch. You will come out of the day with your own slightly crazy fully programmable mobile Grunge Bot.

The Grunge Bots components are assembled free-form with hot glue, duct tape, cable ties, rubber bands and lots of creativity onto whatever interesting body is handy.

The robot brains (Arduino) are first programmed just to drag it around, initially without any sensors. You then go on to add touch/bump sensors before ultrasonic sensors complete the project. A range of other sensors will be available for participants with pre-existing skills.

The newly create robotic life forms are taken home at the end of the day.Goal: Going from having no idea what your doing, to making and programming your own mobile robot. There are no glam, shiny, simplified robots on offer; you will build Grunge Bots.

Creative messy fast robotic life.

Target age: 11 – 18 years but younger ok with parental support. Adult participants very welcome.

Cost: $40 (includes the Grunge Bot kit)
